Majma al-Zawaid — Hadith 12881

Sayyiduna al-Hakam bin Sa'id bin al-As (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates that he came to the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) and greeted him with salam. The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) asked him: What is your name? He replied: Hakam. The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: You are Abdullah. He said: O Messenger of Allah! I am Abdullah.
Al-Tabarani recorded it. He distinguished between this narration and the one before it, and
he recorded this narration in the section of those whose name is Abdullah, and the one before it in the section of those whose name is al-Hakam. Its narrators are thiqat (trustworthy), if Allah wills.
