Majma al-Zawaid — Hadith 12880

Sayyiduna al-Hakam bin Sa'id (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates: I came to the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) to pledge allegiance to him. He asked: What is your name? I replied: Hakam. He said: Rather, you are Abdullah.
Al-Tabarani recorded it. He stated that this man was killed as a martyr at the Battle of Badr. Its chain contains Abu Umayyah bin Ya'la, who is matruk (abandoned).
