Majma al-Zawaid — Hadith 12867

Sayyiduna Utbah bin Abd al-Sulami (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates: When a man came to the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) and his name was one that he did not like, he would change it. We came to the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him), seven men from the Banu Sulaym; the eldest of us was Sayyiduna al-Irbad bin Sariyah (may Allah be pleased with him), and we all pledged allegiance to him together.
Al-Tabarani recorded it, and its narrators are thiqat (trustworthy), though there is disagreement about some of its narrators.
