Majma al-Zawaid — Hadith 12809

In one narration the words are: He narrates: I came to the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) while he was in a house. I stood facing the door and sought permission to enter, and the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) gestured to me to move a little away. Then I came again and sought permission, and the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "The command to seek permission is only so that the gaze does not fall (inside)."
Imam al-Tabarani recorded it, and the narrators of the second narration are the narrators of the Sahih.
