Majma al-Zawaid 12808 — Seeking permission, and one who looks

Sayyiduna Sa'd bin Ubadah (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates that once he sought permission to enter while standing directly in front of the door, so the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said to him: "Do not seek permission while you are standing directly in front of the door."
