Majma al-Zawaid — Hadith 12805

Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Abbas (may Allah be pleased with them both) narrates: The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) exiled al-Hakam bin Abi al-As from Madinah to Ta'if because once, while the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) was in his chamber, someone peeped in at him. The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "A lizard! A lizard!" When the people looked, there was al-Hakam bin Abi al-As. The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Get out! As long as I am alive, you shall not live with me in Madinah." So the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) exiled him to Ta'if.
Imam al-Tabarani recorded it. Its chain contains Mudrik bin Sulayman, whom I do not know. The remaining narrators of this report are thiqat (trustworthy).
