وَعَنْ أَنَسٍ قَالَ :
كُنَّا مَعَ النَّبِيِّ - صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ - فِي مَجْلِسٍ ، فَمَرَّ يَهُودِيٌّ فَسَلَّمَ عَلَيْهِمْ ، فَرَدَّ عَلَيْهِ أَصْحَابُ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ - صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ - قَالَ : " هَلْ تَدْرُونَ مَا قَالَ ؟ " . قَالُوا : نَعَمْ ، سَلَّمَ . قَالَ : " فَإِنَّهُ قَالَ : السَّامُ عَلَيْكُمْ ، أَيْ : تُسَامُونَ دِينَكُمْ ، رُدُّوهُ عَلَيَّ ، كَيْفَ قُلْتَ ؟ " . فَقَالَ : السَّامُ عَلَيْكُمْ ، فَقَالَ النَّبِيُّ - صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ - : " إِذَا سَلَّمَ عَلَيْكُمْ أَهْلُ الْكِتَابِ فَقُولُوا : عَلَيْكُمْ ، أَيْ : عَلَيْكُمْ مَا قُلْتُمْ " .
قُلْتُ : لِأَنَسٍ حَدِيثٌ فِي الصَّحِيحِ غَيْرُ هَذَا .
رَوَاهُ الْبَزَّارُ ، وَرِجَالُهُ رِجَالُ الصَّحِيحِ .
كُنَّا مَعَ النَّبِيِّ - صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ - فِي مَجْلِسٍ ، فَمَرَّ يَهُودِيٌّ فَسَلَّمَ عَلَيْهِمْ ، فَرَدَّ عَلَيْهِ أَصْحَابُ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ - صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ - قَالَ : " هَلْ تَدْرُونَ مَا قَالَ ؟ " . قَالُوا : نَعَمْ ، سَلَّمَ . قَالَ : " فَإِنَّهُ قَالَ : السَّامُ عَلَيْكُمْ ، أَيْ : تُسَامُونَ دِينَكُمْ ، رُدُّوهُ عَلَيَّ ، كَيْفَ قُلْتَ ؟ " . فَقَالَ : السَّامُ عَلَيْكُمْ ، فَقَالَ النَّبِيُّ - صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ - : " إِذَا سَلَّمَ عَلَيْكُمْ أَهْلُ الْكِتَابِ فَقُولُوا : عَلَيْكُمْ ، أَيْ : عَلَيْكُمْ مَا قُلْتُمْ " .
قُلْتُ : لِأَنَسٍ حَدِيثٌ فِي الصَّحِيحِ غَيْرُ هَذَا .
رَوَاهُ الْبَزَّارُ ، وَرِجَالُهُ رِجَالُ الصَّحِيحِ .
Sayyiduna Anas (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates: We were with the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) in a gathering. A Jew passed by and greeted them with salam, and the Companions of the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) returned his greeting. The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Do you know what he said?" The people said: "Yes, he greeted us with salam." The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "He said, 'As-samu alaykum,' meaning: may you grow weary of your religion. Bring him back to me." (Then the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) asked him:) "What did you say?" He said: "(I said:) As-samu alaykum." The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "When the People of the Book greet you with salam, say: 'Alaykum (Upon you),' meaning: may what you have said come upon you." (Allamah al-Haythami says:) I say: there is a hadith of Sayyiduna Anas (may Allah be pleased with him) mentioned in the Sahih, which is other than this hadith.
