بَابُ السَّلَامِ عَلَى أَهْلِ الذِّمَّةِ

وَعَنْ زَيْدِ بْنِ أَرْقَمَ قَالَ :
بَيْنَا أَنَا عِنْدَ النَّبِيِّ - صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ - إِذْ أَقْبَلَ رَجُلٌ مِنَ الْيَهُودِ يُقَالُ لَهُ : ثَعْلَبَةُ بْنُ الْحَارِثِ ، فَقَالَ : السَّامُ عَلَيْكَ يَا مُحَمَّدُ . فَقَالَ : " وَعَلَيْكَ " .
رَوَاهُ الطَّبَرَانِيُّ ، وَفِيهِ عَبْدُ النُّورِ بْنُ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ ، وَهُوَ كَذَّابٌ .

Sayyiduna Zayd bin Arqam (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates: Once I was with the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) when a Jewish man named Tha'labah bin al-Harith came and said: "As-samu alayka (Death be upon you), O Muhammad!" The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Wa alayka (meaning: may it come upon you too)."
Imam al-Tabarani recorded it. Its chain contains Abd al-Nur bin Abdullah, who is kadhdhab (a liar).
