Majma al-Zawaid 12614 — Respecting the elderly and showing mercy
وَعَنْ وَاثِلَةَ - يَعْنِي ابْنَ الْأَسْقَعِ - قَالَ : قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ - صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ - : " لَيْسَ مِنَّا مَنْ لَمْ يَرْحَمْ صَغِيرَنَا ، وَيُجِلَّ كَبِيرَنَا " .
رَوَاهُ الطَّبَرَانِيُّ ، وَالزُّهْرِيُّ لَمْ يَسْمَعْ مِنْ وَاثِلَةَ .

Sayyiduna Wathilah bin al-Asqa' (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates that the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "He is not of us who does not show kindness to our young and does not honour our elder."
Al-Tabarani recorded it, and the narrator al-Zuhri did not hear from Sayyiduna Wathilah (may Allah be pleased with him).
