بَابُ تَوْقِيرِ الْكَبِيرِ وَرَحْمَةِ الصَّغِيرِ

Majma al-Zawaid 12613 — Respecting the elderly and showing mercy
وَعَنْ جَابِرٍ قَالَ : قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ - صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ - : " لَيْسَ مِنَّا مَنْ لَمْ يُوَقِّرْ كَبِيرَنَا ، وَيَرْحَمْ صَغِيرَنَا " .
رَوَاهُ أَبُو يَعْلَى وَالطَّبَرَانِيُّ فِي الْأَوْسَطِ ، وَفِيهِ مُبَارَكُ بْنُ فَضَالَةَ وَثَّقَهُ الْعِجْلِيُّ وَغَيْرُهُ ، وَلَكِنَّهُ مُدَلِّسٌ وَفِيهِ ضَعْفٌ ، وَسَهْلُ بْنُ تَمَّامٍ ثِقَةٌ يُخْطِئُ .
رَوَاهُ أَبُو يَعْلَى وَالطَّبَرَانِيُّ فِي الْأَوْسَطِ ، وَفِيهِ مُبَارَكُ بْنُ فَضَالَةَ وَثَّقَهُ الْعِجْلِيُّ وَغَيْرُهُ ، وَلَكِنَّهُ مُدَلِّسٌ وَفِيهِ ضَعْفٌ ، وَسَهْلُ بْنُ تَمَّامٍ ثِقَةٌ يُخْطِئُ .
Sayyiduna Jabir (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates that the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "He is not of us who does not honour our elder and is not kind to our young."
Abu Ya'la and al-Tabarani in al-Mu'jam al-Awsat recorded it. Its chain contains Mubarak bin Fadalah, whom al-Ijli and others declared thiqah (trustworthy), but he is a mudallis (one who conceals defects in the chain) and there is weakness in him; and it contains Sahl bin Tammam, who is thiqah (trustworthy) but makes mistakes.
