وَعَنْ أَبِي أُمَامَةَ الْبَاهِلِيِّ عَنِ النَّبِيِّ - صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ - قَالَ : " إِنَّ النَّاسَ شَجَرَةٌ ذَاتُ جَنْيٍ ، وَيُوشِكُ أَنْ يَعُودُوا شَجَرَةً ذَاتَ شَوْكٍ ، إِنَّ نَافَذْتَهُمْ نَافَذُوكَ ، وَإِنْ تَرَكْتَهُمْ لَمْ يَتْرُكُوكَ ، وَإِنْ هَرَبْتَ مِنْهُمْ طَلَبُوكَ " . قَالَ : فَكَيْفَ الْمَخْرَجُ مِنْ ذَلِكَ يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ ؟ قَالَ : " تُقْرِضُهُمْ عَرَضَكَ لِيَوْمِ فَاقَتِكَ " . رَوَاهُ الطَّبَرَانِيُّ ، وَفِيهِ بَقِيَّةُ وَهُوَ مُدَلِّسٌ ، وَصَدَقَةُ بْنُ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ ضَعِيفٌ جِدًّا وَوَثَّقَهُ دُحَيْمٌ وَأَبُو حَاتِمٍ .
Sayyiduna Abu Umamah al-Bahili (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates this saying of the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him): "People are like a tree bearing fruit, and soon they will become like a tree bearing thorns. If you pull at them, they will pull at you; if you leave them, they will not leave you; and if you flee from them, they will seek you out. The narrator said: O Messenger of Allah, what is the way out of this? The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: Lend them your goods against the day of your need."
Al-Tabarani recorded it; its chain contains Baqiyyah, and he is a mudallis, and Sadaqah bin Abdullah, who is extremely da'if (weak); Duhaym and Abu Hatim declared him thiqah (trustworthy).
