وَعَنْ أَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ عَنِ النَّبِيِّ - صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ - وَعَنْ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ مَسْعُودٍ قَالَ : قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ - صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ : " سَيَكُونُ بَعْدِي أَثْرَةٌ وَأُمُورٌ تُنْكِرُونَهَا " . قَالُوا : فَمَا تَأْمُرُ مَنْ أَدْرَكَ ذَلِكَ يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ ؟ قَالَ : " تُؤَدُّونَ الْحَقَّ الَّذِي عَلَيْكُمْ ، وَتَسْأَلُونَ اللَّهَ الَّذِي لَكُمْ " . قُلْتُ : حَدِيثُ ابْنِ مَسْعُودٍ فِي الصَّحِيحِ . رَوَاهُ الطَّبَرَانِيُّ فِي الْأَوْسَطِ وَالصَّغِيرِ ، وَفِيهِ أَحْمَدُ بْنُ عَبْدِ الْعَزِيزِ الْوَاسِطِيُّ وَلَمْ أَعْرِفْهُ ، وَبَقِيَّةُ رِجَالِهِ ثِقَاتٌ .
Sayyiduna Abu Hurayrah (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates this from the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him), and Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Mas'ud (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates: The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Soon after me there will be favouritism (preferential treatment) and other matters which you will find objectionable. The people said: O Messenger of Allah! What do you command the one who finds that situation? The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Fulfil the right that is due from you, and ask Allah Almighty for what is your right." (Allamah al-Haythami says:) I say: The hadith narrated by Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Mas'ud (may Allah be pleased with him) is in the Sahih.
Al-Tabarani recorded it in al-Mu'jam al-Awsat and al-Mu'jam al-Saghir; its chain contains Ahmad bin Abd al-Aziz al-Wasiti, and I do not know him; the rest of its narrators are thiqat (trustworthy).
