كتاب الفتن - أعاذنا الله منها
Book of Tribulations (may Allah protect us from them)
بَابٌ فِي الْأَمْرِ بِالْمَعْرُوفِ وَالنَّهْيِ عَنِ الْمُنْكَرِ وَفِيمَنْ لَا تَأْخُذُهُ فِي اللَّهِ لَوْمَةُ لَائِمٍ .
Enjoining good and forbidding evil, and one who does not fear the blame of any critic for the sake of Allah

وَعَنِ ابْنِ عُمَرَ قَالَ : قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ - صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ : " يَا أَيُّهَا النَّاسُ ، مُرُوا بِالْمَعْرُوفِ وَانْهَوْا عَنِ الْمُنْكَرِ قَبْلَ أَنْ تَدْعُوَا اللَّهَ فَلَا يَسْتَجِيبُ لَكُمْ وَقَبْلَ أَنْ تَسْتَغْفِرُوهُ فَلَا يَغْفِرُ لَكُمْ . إِنَّ الْأَمْرَ بِالْمَعْرُوفِ لَا يُقَرِّبُ أَجَلًا ، وَإِنَّ الْأَحْبَارَ مِنَ الْيَهُودِ وَالرُّهْبَانَ مِنَ النَّصَارَى لَمَّا تَرَكُوا الْأَمْرَ بِالْمَعْرُوفِ وَالنَّهْيَ عَنِ الْمُنْكَرِ لَعَنَهُمُ اللَّهُ عَلَى لِسَانِ أَنْبِيَائِهِمْ وَعَمَّهُمُ الْبَلَاءُ " . رَوَاهُ الطَّبَرَانِيُّ فِي الْأَوْسَطِ ، وَفِيهِ مَنْ لَمْ أَعْرِفْهُمْ .
Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Umar (may Allah be pleased with them both) narrates that the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "O people! Enjoin good and forbid evil before you call upon Allah Almighty and He does not answer you, and before you seek His forgiveness and He does not forgive you. Indeed, enjoining good does not bring death nearer. When the rabbis of the Jews and the monks of the Christians abandoned enjoining good and forbidding evil, Allah Almighty cursed them through the tongues of their prophets, and trial engulfed them all."
