وَعَنْ جُبَيْرِ بْنِ نُفَيْرٍ أَنَّ عُمَرَ حَدَّثَهُ أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ - صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ - قَالَ : " إِذَا أَرَادَ اللَّهُ بِعَبْدٍ خَيْرًا اسْتَعْمَلَهُ قَبْلَ مَوْتِهِ " ، فَسَأَلَهُ رَجُلٌ مِنَ الْقَوْمِ : مَا اسْتَعْمَلَهُ ؟ قَالَ : " يَهْدِيهِ اللَّهُ - تَبَارَكَ وَتَعَالَى - إِلَى الْعَمَلِ الصَّالِحِ قَبْلَ مَوْتِهِ ثُمَّ يَقْبِضُهُ عَلَيْهِ " .
رَوَاهُ أَحْمَدُ ، وَفِيهِ بَقِيَّةُ ، وَقَدْ صَرَّحَ بِالسَّمَاعِ ، وَبَقِيَّةُ رِجَالِهِ ثِقَاتٌ .

Jubayr bin Nufayr narrates that Sayyiduna Umar (may Allah be pleased with him) told him that the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "When Allah Almighty intends good for a servant, He employs him before his death." A man among those present asked: "How does He employ him?" The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "He guides him to a righteous deed before his death and then takes his soul in that state."
Ahmad recorded it; its chain contains Baqiyyah, who has explicitly stated that he heard it, and the remaining narrators of this report are thiqat (trustworthy).
