وَعَنْ أَبِي عِنَبَةَ قَالَ شُرَيْحُ بْنُ النُّعْمَانِ ، وَلَهُ صُحْبَةٌ ، قَالَ : قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ - صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ : " إِذَا أَرَادَ اللَّهُ بِعَبْدٍ خَيْرًا عَسَّلَهُ " . قِيلَ : وَمَا عَسَّلَهُ ؟ قَالَ : " يَفْتَحُ لَهُ عَمَلًا صَالِحًا قَبْلَ مَوْتِهِ ثُمَّ يَقْبِضُهُ عَلَيْهِ " .
رَوَاهُ أَحْمَدُ وَالطَّبَرَانِيُّ ، وَفِيهِ بَقِيَّةُ ، وَقَدْ صَرَّحَ بِالسَّمَاعِ فِي الْمُسْنَدِ ، وَبَقِيَّةُ رِجَالِهِ ثِقَاتٌ .
رَوَاهُ أَحْمَدُ وَالطَّبَرَانِيُّ ، وَفِيهِ بَقِيَّةُ ، وَقَدْ صَرَّحَ بِالسَّمَاعِ فِي الْمُسْنَدِ ، وَبَقِيَّةُ رِجَالِهِ ثِقَاتٌ .
Abu Inabah narrates: Sayyiduna Shurayh bin al-Nu'man (may Allah be pleased with him), who had the honour of being a Companion, narrates that the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "When Allah Almighty intends good for a servant, He sweetens him with honey." It was asked: "What is meant by sweetening him with honey?" The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "He opens a righteous deed for him before his death and then takes his soul in that state."
Ahmad and al-Tabarani recorded it; its chain contains Baqiyyah, who explicitly stated that he heard it in the Musnad, and the remaining narrators of this report are thiqat (trustworthy).
