Abd al-Rahman bin Abdullah bin Ka'b bin Malik narrates that a man who was present with the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) at the Battle of Khaybar told him: "The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said about one of the men who were with him: 'This man is of the people of Hell.' When the fighting came, that man fought most fiercely until he received many wounds. Some of the Companions of the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) came to him and said: 'O Messenger of Allah, have you seen the man about whom you mentioned that he is of the people of Hell? By Allah, he has fought most fiercely in the path of Allah and received many wounds.' The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: 'He is indeed of the people of Hell.' Some of the people began to have doubts about this. Meanwhile, that man felt the pain of his wound, reached his hand to his quiver, drew out an arrow and killed himself with it. Then one of the Muslims ran to the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) and said: 'O Messenger of Allah, Allah Almighty has shown your word to be true; so-and-so has killed himself.'"
Ahmad recorded it, and its narrators are the narrators of the Sahih.
