بَابٌ فِيمَا سَبَقَ مِنَ اللَّهِ - سُبْحَانَهُ - فِي عِبَادِهِ وَبَيَانِ أَهْلِ الْجَنَّةِ وَأَهْلِ النَّارِ .
What Allah has decreed beforehand for His servants, and the people of Paradise and the people of the Fire

وَعَنِ الْبَرَاءِ بْنِ عَازِبٍ أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ - صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ - أَقْبَلَ ذَاتَ يَوْمٍ وَفِي يَدِهِ صَحِيفَتَانِ يَنْظُرُ فِيهِمَا ، فَقَالَ أَصْحَابُهُ : وَاللَّهِ إِنَّ نَبِيَّ اللَّهِ - صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ - لَأُمِّيٌّ مَا يَقْرَأُ وَمَا يَكْتُبُ ، حَتَّى دَنَا مِنْهُمْ ، فَنَشَرَ الَّتِي فِي يَمِينِهِ فَقَالَ : " بِسْمِ اللَّهِ الرَّحْمَنِ الرَّحِيمِ ، هَذَا كِتَابٌ مِنَ الرَّحْمَنِ الرَّحِيمِ بِأَسْمَاءِ أَهْلِ الْجَنَّةِ وَأَسْمَاءِ آبَائِهِمْ وَعَشَائِرِهِمْ ، مُجْمَلٌ عَلَيْهِمْ ، لَا يُزَادُ فِي آخِرِهِ شَيْءٌ فَرَغَ رَبُّكُمْ " ، ثُمَّ نَشَرَ الَّتِي فِي يَدِهِ الْأُخْرَى لِأَهْلِ النَّارِ مِثْلَ ذَلِكَ .
رَوَاهُ الطَّبَرَانِيُّ فِي الْأَوْسَطِ ، وَفِيهِ الْهُذَيْلُ بْنُ بِلَالٍ وَهُوَ ضَعِيفٌ .

Sayyiduna al-Bara' bin Azib (may Allah be pleased with him) relates: One day the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) came, with two scrolls in his hands, and he (peace and blessings be upon him) was looking at them. His Companions said: "By Allah, the Prophet of Allah is unlettered; he neither reads nor writes." Then the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) came near them, spread out what was in his (right) hand and said (it contains this writing): "In the name of Allah, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful. This is a writing from the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful. In it are the names of the people of Paradise, and of their forefathers and their clans. It is fixed for them; nothing will be added at its end. This is something your Lord has finished with." Then the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said words like these for the people of Hell about what was in his other hand.
Al-Tabarani recorded it in al-Mu'jam al-Awsat; its chain contains al-Hudhayl bin Bilal, who is da'if (weak).
