وَعَنْ أَبِي أُمَامَةَ قَالَ : قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ - صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ - : " أَعْطَانِي رَبِّي السَّبْعَ الطُّوَلَ مَكَانَ التَّوْرَاةِ ، وَالْمِئِينَ مَكَانَ الْإِنْجِيلِ ، وَفُضِّلْتُ بِالْمُفَصَّلِ " . رَوَاهُ الطَّبَرَانِيُّ ، وَفِيهِ لَيْثُ بْنُ أَبِي سُلَيْمٍ ، وَقَدْ ضَعَّفَهُ جَمَاعَةٌ ، وَيُعْتَبَرُ بِحَدِيثِهِ ، وَبَقِيَّةُ رِجَالِهِ رِجَالُ الصَّحِيحِ .
Sayyiduna Abu Umamah (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates: The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "My Lord has given me the seven long (surahs) in place of the Torah, and the Mi'in (surahs of about a hundred verses) in place of the Gospel (Injil), and I have been granted excellence through the Mufassal surahs."
Al-Tabarani recorded it; its chain contains a narrator, Layth bin Abi Sulaym, whom a group declared da'if (weak), though his hadith is taken into consideration; the remaining narrators of this report are the narrators of the Sahih.
