عَنْ وَاثِلَةَ بْنِ الْأَسْقَعِ أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ - صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ - قَالَ : " أُعْطِيتُ مَكَانَ التَّوْرَاةِ السَّبْعَ ، وَأُعْطِيتُ مَكَانَ الزَّبُورِ الْمِئِينَ ، وَأُعْطِيتُ مَكَانَ الْإِنْجِيلِ الْمَثَانِيَ ، وَفُضِّلْتُ بِالْمُفَصَّلِ " . رَوَاهُ أَحْمَدُ وَالطَّبَرَانِيُّ بِنَحْوِهِ .
Sayyiduna Wathilah bin al-Asqa' (may Allah be pleased with him) transmits this saying of the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him): "In place of the Torah I have been given the seven (surahs); in place of the Psalms (Zabur) I have been given the Mi'in (surahs of about a hundred verses); in place of the Gospel (Injil) I have been given the "Mathani"; and I have been granted excellence through the Mufassal."
