Salamah bin Wardan narrates: Sayyiduna Anas bin Malik (may Allah be pleased with him), the Companion of the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him), narrated this hadith to Salamah: The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) asked a man from among his Companions, saying: O so-and-so! Have you married? He replied: No! I do not have enough with which I could marry. The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) asked: Do you not know Surah al-Ikhlas? He replied: Yes, I do! The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: It is one quarter of the Qur'an. Then he asked: Do you not know Surah al-Kafirun? He replied: Yes, I do! The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: It is one quarter of the Qur'an. Then he asked: Do you not know Surah al-Zalzalah? He replied: Yes, I do! The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: It is one quarter of the Qur'an. Then he asked: Do you not know Surah al-Nasr? He replied: Yes, I do! The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: It is one quarter of the Qur'an. Then the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) asked: Do you not know Ayat al-Kursi? He replied: Yes, I do! The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: It is one quarter of the Qur'an. Get married, get married, get married (that is, the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said this three times). (Allamah al-Haythami says:) I say:
Al-Tirmidhi recorded it in abridged form, only without Ayat al-Kursi, and reported that Surah al-Ikhlas is one quarter of the Qur'an.
Ahmad recorded it, and the narrator Salamah is da'if (weak).
