Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Amr (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates: Sayyiduna Abu Ayyub al-Ansari (may Allah be pleased with him) was present in a gathering and was saying: Are we not able to recite one third of the Qur'an every night? The people said: Are we able to do that? He said: Surah al-Ikhlas is one third of the Qur'an. The narrator says: Meanwhile the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) arrived, and he (peace and blessings be upon him) was listening to what Sayyiduna Abu Ayyub al-Ansari (may Allah be pleased with him) was saying. The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: Abu Ayyub has spoken correctly.
Ahmad recorded it; its chain contains Ibn Lahi'ah, in whom there is weakness.
