قَوْلُهُ تَعَالَى : وَيَسْأَلُونَكَ عَنِ الْمَحِيضِ وَقَوْلُهُ : نِسَاؤُكُمْ حَرْثٌ لَكُمْ .
The saying of Allah the Exalted: "And they ask you about menstruation", and His saying: "Your wives are a place of cultivation for you"

وَعَنْ أَبِي سَعِيدٍ قَالَ : أَبَعَرَ رَجُلٌ امْرَأَتَهُ عَلَى عَهْدِ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ - صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ - فَقَالُوا : أَبْعَرَ فُلَانٌ امْرَأَتَهُ . فَأَنْزَلَ اللَّهُ عَزَّ وَجَلَّ : نِسَاؤُكُمْ حَرْثٌ لَكُمْ فَأْتُوا حَرْثَكُمْ أَنَّى شِئْتُمْ . رَوَاهُ أَبُو يَعْلَى عَنْ شَيْخِهِ الْحَارِثِ بْنِ سُرَيْجٍ الْبَقَّالِ وَهُوَ ضَعِيفٌ كَذَّابٌ .
Sayyiduna Abu Sa'id al-Khudri (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates: In the blessed time of the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him), a man had intercourse with his wife after turning her over, and the people said: So-and-so had intercourse with his wife after turning her over. So Allah Almighty revealed this verse: "Your wives are a tilth for you, so come to your tilth however you wish."
