Book of Tafsir
قَوْلُهُ تَعَالَى : الْحَجُّ أَشْهُرٌ مَعْلُومَاتٌ فَمَنْ فَرَضَ فِيهِنَّ الْحَجَّ فَلَا رَفَثَ .
The saying of Allah the Exalted: "Hajj is in the well-known months, so whoever has made Hajj obligatory upon himself therein, there is to be no sexual relations"

وَعَنِ ابْنِ عَبَّاسٍ قَالَ : لَا رَفَثَ قَالَ : الرَّفَثُ : الْجِمَاعُ . وَلَا فُسُوقَ قَالَ : الْفُسُوقُ : الْمَعَاصِي . وَلَا جِدَالَ فِي الْحَجِّ قَالَ : الْمِرَاءُ .
رَوَاهُ أَبُو يَعْلَى ، وَفِيهِ خُصَيْفٌ وَثَّقَهُ الْعِجْلِيُّ وَابْنُ مَعِينٍ ، وَضَعَّفَهُ جَمَاعَةٌ ، وَبَقِيَّةُ رِجَالِهِ رِجَالُ الصَّحِيحِ .
رَوَاهُ أَبُو يَعْلَى ، وَفِيهِ خُصَيْفٌ وَثَّقَهُ الْعِجْلِيُّ وَابْنُ مَعِينٍ ، وَضَعَّفَهُ جَمَاعَةٌ ، وَبَقِيَّةُ رِجَالِهِ رِجَالُ الصَّحِيحِ .
Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Abbas (may Allah be pleased with them both) says: "No rafath" means intercourse; "No fusuq": he says, fusuq means sins; "No jidal during Hajj": he says, (jidal here means) quarrelling.
Abu Ya'la recorded it; its chain contains a narrator, Khusayf, whom al-Ijli and Yahya bin Ma'in declared thiqah (trustworthy), while a group declared him da'if (weak); the rest of its narrators are the narrators of the Sahih.
