وَعَنْ عَلِيٍّ - رَضِيَ اللَّهُ عَنْهُ - عَنِ النَّبِيِّ - صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ - قَالَ : " الْإِسْلَامُ ثَمَانِيَةُ أَسْهُمٍ : الْإِسْلَامُ سَهْمٌ ، وَالصَّلَاةُ سَهْمٌ ، وَالزَّكَاةُ سَهْمٌ ، وَالْحَجُّ سَهْمٌ ، وَالْجِهَادُ سَهْمٌ ، وَصَوْمُ رَمَضَانَ سَهْمٌ ، وَالْأَمْرُ بِالْمَعْرُوفِ سَهْمٌ ، وَالنَّهْيُ عَنِ الْمُنْكَرِ سَهْمٌ ، وَقَدْ خَابَ مَنْ لَا سَهْمَ لَهُ " .
رَوَاهُ أَبُو يَعْلَى ، وَفِي إِسْنَادِهِ الْحَارِثُ ، وَهُوَ كَذَّابٌ .

Sayyiduna Ali (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates this saying of the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him): "Islam has eight portions: Islam (that is, the testimony of faith) is a portion, prayer is a portion, zakah is a portion, Hajj is a portion, jihad is a portion, fasting in Ramadan is a portion, enjoining good is a portion, forbidding evil is a portion; and whoever has no portion (of these) has been disgraced."
Imam Abu Ya'la recorded it; its chain contains a narrator, al-Harith, who is kadhdhab (a liar).
