وَعَنْ أَبِي عُثْمَانَ النَّهْدِيَّ قَالَ : شَهِدَ أَبُو بَكْرَةَ ، وَنَافِعٌ ، وَشِبْلُ بْنُ مَعْبَدٍ عَلَى الْمُغِيرَةِ بْنِ شُعْبَةَ ; أَنَّهُمْ نَظَرُوا إِلَيْهِ كَمَا نَظَرُوا إِلَى الْمِرْوَدِ فِي الْمُكْحُلَةِ ، فَجَاءَ زِيَادٌ ، فَقَالَ عُمَرُ : جَاءَ رَجُلٌ لَا يَشْهَدُ إِلَّا بِحَقٍّ ، فَقَالَ : رَأَيْتُ مَنْظَرًا قَبِيحًا وَابْتِهَارًا . قَالَ : فَجَلَدَهُمْ عُمَرُ الْحَدَّ . رَوَاهُ الطَّبَرَانِيُّ ، وَرِجَالُهُ رِجَالُ الصَّحِيحِ .
Abu Uthman al-Nahdi narrates: Sayyiduna Abu Bakrah (may Allah be pleased with him), Sayyiduna Nafi' (may Allah be pleased with him) and Sayyiduna Shibl bin Ma'bad (may Allah be pleased with him) testified against Sayyiduna al-Mughirah bin Shu'bah (may Allah be pleased with him) that they had seen him, and seen him in the way a kohl stick is inserted into a kohl container. Then Ziyad came, and Sayyiduna Umar (may Allah be pleased with him) said: "A man has come who will testify only according to the truth." He said: "I saw a scene that was ugly and blameworthy." The narrator says: So Sayyiduna Umar (may Allah be pleased with him) had those men flogged as the prescribed punishment.
