Book of Legal Punishments and Blood Money
بَابٌ فِي مَنْ كَفَرَ بَعْدَ إِسْلَامِهِ - نَعُوذُ بِاللَّهِ مِنْ ذَلِكَ - وَهَلْ يُسْتَتَابُ ؟ وَكَمْ يُسْتَتَابُ ؟
One who disbelieves after accepting Islam (we seek refuge with Allah from that), is he asked to repent, and how many times

وَعَنْ أَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ - صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ - قَالَ : " مَنْ بَدَّلَ دِينَهُ فَاقْتُلُوهُ " . رَوَاهُ الطَّبَرَانِيُّ فِي الْأَوْسَطِ ، وَإِسْنَادُهُ حَسَنٌ .
Sayyiduna Abu Hurayrah (may Allah be pleased with him) reports this saying of the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him): "Whoever changes his religion (by leaving Islam), kill him."
