بَابٌ فِي مَنْ كَفَرَ بَعْدَ إِسْلَامِهِ - نَعُوذُ بِاللَّهِ مِنْ ذَلِكَ - وَهَلْ يُسْتَتَابُ ؟ وَكَمْ يُسْتَتَابُ ؟
One who disbelieves after accepting Islam (we seek refuge with Allah from that), is he asked to repent, and how many times

عَنْ مُعَاذِ بْنِ جَبَلٍ أَنَّ النَّبِيَّ - صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ - قَالَ : " إِنَّ أَبْغَضَ الْخَلْقِ إِلَى اللَّهِ عَزَّ وَجَلَّ لَمَنْ آمَنَ ثُمَّ كَفَرَ " رَوَاهُ الطَّبَرَانِيُّ ، وَفِيهِ صَدَقَةُ بْنُ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ السَّمِينُ ، وَثَّقَهُ أَبُو حَاتِمٍ وَجَمَاعَةٌ ، وَضَعَّفَهُ غَيْرُهُمْ ، وَبَقِيَّةُ رِجَالِهِ ثِقَاتٌ .
Sayyiduna Mu'adh bin Jabal (may Allah be pleased with him) reports this saying of the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him): "The most hated of creation in the sight of Allah Almighty is the one who believes and then disbelieves."
Al-Tabarani recorded it. Its chain contains Sadaqah bin Abdullah al-Samin, whom Abu Hatim and a group declared thiqah (trustworthy), while others declared him da'if (weak). The rest of its narrators are thiqat (trustworthy).
