Majma al-Zawaid — Hadith 10392

Tariq bin Shihab narrates: The apostates from the tribes of Asad and Ghatafan came to Sayyiduna Abu Bakr (may Allah be pleased with him) after the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him), asking him for peace. Sayyiduna Abu Bakr (may Allah be pleased with him) said: "On condition that we take away your armour and horses from you, and you are left to follow the tails of cattle until Allah Almighty shows the successor of His Prophet and the believers a course by which they can excuse you; and that you bear witness that your slain are in Hell and our slain are in Paradise; and that you pay blood money for our slain, while we do not pay blood money for your slain." Sayyiduna Umar (may Allah be pleased with him) said: "O successor of the Messenger of Allah, the matter is as you have said, except that our slain were killed in the cause of Allah, so there is no blood money for them." (Allamah al-Haythami says:) I say:
Al-Tabarani recorded it in al-Mu'jam al-Awsat. Its chain contains a narrator, Ibrahim bin Bashshar al-Ramadi, whom Ibn Hibban and others declared thiqah (trustworthy), and whom Yahya bin Ma'in and others declared da'if (weak). The rest of its narrators are the narrators of the Sahih.
