Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Abbas (may Allah be pleased with them both) narrates: On the day of the Conquest of Makkah, the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) entered, and at that time there were three hundred and sixty idols on the Ka'bah. Iblis had fastened their feet firmly with lead. When the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) arrived, he had a stick with him. He would point with it toward each of these idols, and it would fall on its face, while he was reciting: "The truth has come and falsehood has gone; indeed falsehood was bound to go." This continued until he had passed by every one of these idols.
Al-Tabarani recorded it, and its narrators are thiqat (trustworthy).
Al-Bazzar recorded it in abridged form.
