Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Umar (may Allah be pleased with them both) narrates: When the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) came to Makkah, he found three hundred and sixty idols there. He would point with his staff toward each of these idols and recite: "The truth has come and falsehood has vanished; indeed falsehood is bound to vanish." Then that idol would fall, and he did not touch it.
Al-Tabarani recorded it in al-Mu'jam al-Awsat, and in al-Mu'jam al-Kabir with similar wording. Its chain contains Asim bin Umar al-Umari, who is matruk (abandoned); Ibn Hibban declared him thiqah (trustworthy) and said: he narrates contrary to (other narrators) and also makes mistakes. The remaining narrators of this report are thiqat (trustworthy).
