Sayyidah Asma' bint Abi Bakr (may Allah be pleased with them both) narrates: When the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) halted at Dhu Tuwa, Sayyiduna Abu Quhafah (may Allah be pleased with him) said to the youngest daughter among his children: "My daughter, take me up Mount Abu Qubays." The narrator says: By that time his sight had gone. That girl narrates: I took him and climbed the mountain. He said: "My daughter, what do you see?" The girl replied: "I see a great many people." He said: "They must be the horsemen." The girl said: "I see a man who, in front of them, is sometimes coming this way and sometimes going that way." He said: "My daughter, that will be the marshal," meaning the man who gives orders to the horsemen and sends them forward. The girl narrates: "By Allah, now they have begun to spread out." Abu Quhafah said: "By Allah, in that case the horsemen must have set off. Take me quickly to my house." They came down from there. Before they reached his house, the horsemen had reached them. The girl had a silver necklace on her neck. A man came to the girl and snatched that necklace from her neck. The girl narrates: When the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) arrived and came into the Mosque, Sayyiduna Abu Bakr (may Allah be pleased with him) came into his presence bringing his father with him. When the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) saw him, he said: "Why did you not let this venerable elder stay at home? I would have come to him myself." Sayyiduna Abu Bakr (may Allah be pleased with him) said: "O Messenger of Allah! He is more entitled to walk to you than that you should walk to him." The narrator says: The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) seated him in front of himself, then passed his hand over his chest and then said to him: "Accept Islam," and he accepted Islam. At the time Sayyiduna Abu Bakr (may Allah be pleased with him) brought him to the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him), the head of Sayyiduna Abu Quhafah (may Allah be pleased with him) was white like the flower called thaghamah. The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Change the colour of his hair." Then Sayyiduna Abu Bakr (may Allah be pleased with him) stood up, took his sister by the hand and said: "I ask in the name of Allah and Islam: return my sister's necklace." But no one answered him. Then Sayyiduna Abu Bakr (may Allah be pleased with him) said: "My sister, hope for reward (from Allah) for your necklace."
Ahmad and al-Tabarani recorded it. He added these words: "By Allah, honesty has now become scarce among people." The narrators of both reports are thiqat (trustworthy). He also recorded it through another chain from Sayyidah Asma' (may Allah be pleased with her), from the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him), with similar wording. The narrators of this report are thiqat (trustworthy).
