✍️ Written by: Imran Ayyub Lahori
❖ Introduction
The Prophet Muhammad ﷺ used to regularly seek refuge in prayer from both sins and debts. This reflects not only the seriousness of incurring debt but also the potential spiritual and moral consequences it can bring.
◈ The Prophetic Supplication
The Prophet ﷺ would say during his prayer:
“O Allah! I seek refuge in You from sins and debt.”
◈ Why the Prophet ﷺ Sought Refuge from Debt
When someone asked the Prophet ﷺ why he sought protection from debt so frequently, he responded:
“When a man is in debt, he lies when he speaks and breaks promises when he makes them.”
