Sponsorship of Orphans

It is authentically reported from the Prophet ﷺ that he said:
“I and the one who sponsors an orphan will be like this in Paradise,” and he gestured with his index and middle fingers with a slight gap between them.
[صحيح البخاري، رقم الحديث 5304]
An orphan is defined as a young child whose father has passed away. A sponsor of an orphan is the one who looks after the orphan’s affairs and fulfills his needs. The status of being an orphan continues until the child reaches adulthood. The presence of a sponsor does not end the orphan status, but if the child is in the care of his grandfather or another guardian, the responsibility of sponsorship from a second person is no longer applicable, both religiously and legally.
