❖ Question

Should the wordings of duʿā in the funeral prayer be changed when the deceased is a woman?

❖ Answer

Al-ḥamdu lillāh, waṣ-ṣalātu wa-s-salāmu ʿalā Rasūlillāh, ammā baʿd:

Both methods are correct:

✿ If the deceased is a woman, it is permissible to use feminine forms in the duʿā.

✿ If the general (masculine) forms of the supplications are used, the duʿā is also valid.

Thus, both approaches are acceptable, and it is not necessary to restrict oneself to only one way.
