Imam Malik and Raising the Hands (Raf’ al-Yadain)

Imam Abdullah bin Wahb al-Masri, may Allah have mercy on him, said:

I saw (Imam) Malik bin Anas, he would raise his hands at the beginning of the prayer, before bowing (ruku’), and when rising from bowing. Its narrator Abu Abdullah Muhammad bin Jabir bin Hammad al-Marwazi al-Faqih, may Allah have mercy on him, said:

I mentioned this to Muhammad bin Abdullah bin Abdul Hakim, and he said:

This is Imam Malik’s final statement and action upon which he passed away, and this is the Sunnah. I act upon this, and Harmalah (bin Yahya) also acts upon this.
