Our society is deteriorating day by day. Each coming day is more tumultuous and dangerous than the previous one. Everyone seems to be riding two boats, harboring the desire in their hearts that their faith remains intact while their respect is also preserved in a moderate, enlightened, and developed society
. If I, swept away by the current of enlightenment, make some changes in my personal life, such as shaving my beard, covering my ankles like girls instead of wearing shalwar or pajamas, or if there is a change in domestic life
like the unrestricted use of cable, internet, dish antenna, VCR, etc., and taking my wife, sister, or daughter to markets without veils or to mixed parks for recreation, or allowing non-mahram men to come and go freely in the house (because, according to them, enlightenment demands that women walk step by step with men!), then no Islamophile should tell me that this is the Caliphate of Shariah. And if I occasionally pray or attend Friday prayers, no moderate should call me a mullah or an extremist “mister.” Let life continue in between these extremes. This brief sketch is of those people who remember the demands of the world, society, community, and tribe but completely ignore the demands of the Quran and Hadith.
✿ The command of Allah Almighty is:
يَا أَيُّهَا الَّذِينَ آمَنُوا ادْخُلُوا فِي السِّلْمِ كَافَّةً
“O you who have believed, enter into Islam completely.”
A life of “half partridge, half quail” is absolutely not liked by Allah Almighty, or following those parts of Shariah which are suitable for nature and society and abandoning those which are contrary to it, this too is a blameworthy act in the sight of Allah.
✿ The command of Allah Almighty is:
أَفَتُؤْمِنُونَ بِبَعْضِ الْكِتَابِ وَتَكْفُرُونَ بِبَعْضٍ فَمَا جَزَاءُ مَنْ يَفْعَلُ ذَلِكَ مِنْكُمْ إِلَّا خِزْيٌ فِي الْحَيَاةِ الدُّنْيَا وَيَوْمَ الْقِيَامَةِ يُرَدُّونَ إِلَى أَشَدِّ الْعَذَابِ وَمَا اللَّـهُ بِغَافِلٍ عَمَّا تَعْمَلُونَ
“Do you believe in part of the Scripture and disbelieve in part? Then what is the recompense for those who do that among you except disgrace in worldly life; and on the Day of Resurrection they will be sent back to the severest of punishment. And Allah is not unaware of what you do.”
❀ The Prophet Muhammad ﷺ said that the worst person among people is the one who has two faces; he shows one face to some people and another face to others.
Give up duplicity, become single-colored
Become entirely wax or stone
