Sayyiduna Iyas bin Salamah narrates from his father Salamah bin Akwa’ (may Allah be pleased with him) that in one expedition, we went under the leadership of Sayyiduna Abu Bakr (may Allah be pleased with him), whom the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) had appointed as the leader. We camped, and Sayyiduna Abu Bakr (may Allah be pleased with him) ordered us to attack the enemy at the time of Fajr prayer. We brought a slave girl to Sayyiduna Abu Bakr (may Allah be pleased with him), and Abu Bakr (may Allah be pleased with him) gave her to me as a reward, and she was the most beautiful. I did not even lift her garment until we reached Madinah. I met the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) in the market of Madinah, and he said: “Give that slave girl to me as a gift.” I said, “I like her, and I have not even removed her clothes yet.” The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) remained silent. When night came, the slave girl spent the night with me, but I did not remove her clothes. The next day, I again met the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) in the market, and he said: “Gift the slave girl to me, may Allah bless your father.” I said, “She is gifted to you, O Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him), and I have not yet removed her clothes.” So the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) gave that slave girl to the polytheists of Makkah and freed several Muslim captives in exchange. Abu Ja’far (may Allah have mercy on him) says that Imam Muzani (may Allah have mercy on him) narrated this report from Iyas bin Salamah (may Allah have mercy on him). I think the narration is from Salamah bin Akwa’ (may Allah be pleased with him), his father.
