It is narrated from Sayyiduna Anas bin Malik (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) went towards Khaybar at night. Whenever the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) would reach a people at night, he would not attack them until morning. If he heard the call to prayer (adhan) there, he would refrain from attacking; if they were not praying, he would attack them at dawn. Sayyiduna Anas (may Allah be pleased with him) says: When we reached morning, the Muslims mounted (their horses), and the people of the settlement came out with their baskets and spades. When they saw the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him), they said, "Muhammad (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) has come with his army." The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said: "Allahu Akbar! Khaybar is destroyed. Whenever we descend upon the battlefield of a people, then evil is the morning for those who have been warned." Sayyiduna Anas (may Allah be pleased with him) says: I was riding behind Abu Talhah (may Allah be pleased with him) (Abu Talhah was riding beside the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings of Allah be upon him), so my foot was touching the blessed foot of the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him).
