عَنْ سُفْيَانَ بْنِ عُيَيْنَةَ ، عَنْ شُعْبَةَ الْكُوفِيِّ ، قَالَ : كُنْتُ مَعَ أَبِي بُرْدَةَ بْنِ أَبِي مُوسَى عَلَى ظَهْرِ بَيْتٍ فَدَعَا بَنِيهِ ، فَقَالَ : يَا بَنِيَّ إِنِّي قَدْ سَمِعْتُ أَبِي ، يَقُولُ : سَمِعْتُ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ، يَقُولُ : " مَنْ أَعْتَقَ رَقَبَةً أَعْتَقَ اللَّهُ بِكُلِّ عُضْوٍ مِنْهَا عُضْوًا مِنَ النَّارِ " .
Shu’bah Kufi, may Allah have mercy on him, says: I was sitting with Sayyiduna Abu Burdah, may Allah have mercy on him, son of Abu Musa, on the roof of his house. He called his son and said: “O son, I heard from my father who said: I heard the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, say: Whoever frees a neck (slave), Allah Almighty will free each of the liberator’s limbs from the Fire of Hell in exchange for each limb of the one freed.”
