عَنْ سُفْيَانَ بْنِ عُيَيْنَةَ ، عَنْ هِشَامِ بْنِ عُرْوَةَ ، عَنْ أَبِيهِ ، عَنْ أُمِّهِ أَسْمَاءَ ، قَالَتْ : أَتَتْنِي أُمِّي رَاغِبَةً فِي عَهْدِ قُرَيْشٍ ، فَسَأَلْتُ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ : أَأَصِلُهَا ؟ قَالَ : " نَعَمْ " .
It is narrated from Sayyida Asma’ (may Allah be pleased with her) that my mother (a polytheist) came to me desiring to meet me, so I asked the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him), “Should I maintain ties of kinship with her (i.e., meet the polytheist)?” The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: “Yes.”
