Narrated from Lady Aisha (may Allah be pleased with her), the wife of the Prophet ﷺ: I performed the Farewell Pilgrimage with the Prophet ﷺ. I was among those who performed Tamattu‘ and had not brought a sacrificial animal with me. She says: I became menstruating and remained in that state until the night of Arafah (i.e., I could not perform Umrah before Hajj). So I said: O Messenger of Allah! This is the day of Arafah and I have not yet become pure; I had intended to perform Umrah. The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said: "Undo your hair and comb it (i.e., perform ghusl and comb your hair, and make the intention for Hajj), begin the acts of Hajj and leave the Umrah." So I did that. When I had completed Hajj and the people had departed, the Messenger of Allah ﷺ ordered Abdur Rahman bin Abu Bakr (may Allah be pleased with him) to take me to Tan‘im so that I could perform the Umrah for which I had previously intended.
