Abdullah bin Adi bin Khiyar (may Allah have mercy on him) says that two men told me: We went to the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) on the occasion of the Farewell Pilgrimage. He (peace be upon him) was distributing charity. We made our way through the crowd and reached him, and asked him for charity. Both of them say: The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) looked us up and down, from head to toe, and saw that we were both healthy and strong. He said: "If you wish, I will give it to you (that is, if you insist), but in this charity there is no right or share for a wealthy person or one who is strong and able to earn."
