Hadith 373

أَنْبَأَنَا عَبْدُ الْوَهَّابِ بْنُ عَبْدِ الْمَجِيدِ الثَّقَفِيُّ قَالَ : سَمِعْتُ يَحْيَى بْنَ سَعِيدٍ يَقُولُ : أَخْبَرَنِي نَافِعٌ ، عَنِ ابْنِ عُمَرَ ، أَنَّ عُمَرَ تَصَدَّقَ بِفَرَسٍ لَهُ فِي زَمَنِ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ وَأَنَّهُ وَجَدَهُ يُبَاعُ فَذَكَرَ ذَلِكَ لِرَسُولِ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ، فَقَالَ : " لا تَشْتَرِهِ وَلا تَقْرَبَنَّهُ " .
It is narrated from Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Umar (may Allah be pleased with them) that Sayyiduna Umar (may Allah be pleased with him) gave a horse in charity during the time of the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him), and later found it being offered for sale. He mentioned this to the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him), and he said: "Do not buy it and do not go near it."
