حَدَّثَنَا سُفْيَانُ بْنُ عُيَيْنَةَ ، عَنْ هِشَامِ بْنِ عُرْوَةَ ، عَنْ أَبِيهِ ، عَنْ عَائِشَةَ رَضِيَ اللَّهُ عَنْهَا ، أَنَّ حَمْزَةَ بْنَ عَمْرٍو الأَسْلَمِيَّ سَأَلَ النَّبِيَّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ فَقَالَ : يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ إِنِّي أَسْرُدُ الصَّوْمَ أَفَأَصُومُ فِي السَّفَرِ ؟ قَالَ : " إِنْ شِئْتَ فَصُمْ وَإِنْ شِئْتَ فَأَفْطِرْ " .
It is narrated from Umm al-Mu'minin Sayyida Aisha (may Allah be pleased with her) that Hamza bin Amr al-Aslami (may Allah be pleased with him) asked the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him), saying: "O Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him)! I observe fasts continuously, so can I fast while traveling?" The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "If you wish, then fast, and if you wish, then break your fast."
