عَنْ يَحْيَى بْنِ حَسَّانَ ، عَنِ اللَّيْثِ ، عَنْ بُكَيْرٍ ، عَنْ عَبْدِ الْمَلِكِ بْنِ سَعِيدٍ الأَنْصَارِيِّ ، عَنْ جَابِرِ بْنِ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ ، عَنْ عُمَرَ بْنِ الْخَطَّابِ رَضِيَ اللَّهُ عَنْهُ ، قَالَ : قَبَّلْتُ يَوْمًا وَأَنَا صَائِمٌ ، فَأَتَيْتُ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ، فَقُلْتُ : فَعَلْتُ الْيَوْمَ أَمْرًا عَظِيمًا قَبَّلْتُ وَأَنَا صَائِمٌ ، فَقَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ : " أَرَأَيْتُ لَوَ تَمَضْمَضْتَ وَأَنْتَ صَائِمٌ ؟ " قَالَ : فَقُلْتُ لا بَأْسَ بِذَلِكَ ، فَقَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ : " فَفِيمَ ؟ " .
It is narrated from Sayyiduna Umar bin Khattab (may Allah be pleased with him): I kissed (my wife) while I was fasting, and I came to the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) and informed him that I had done a great thing today—I kissed while fasting. The Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) said: "What do you think, if you rinse your mouth while fasting (will your fast break)?" I said: There is no harm in that. The Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) said: "(There is no harm in this either) Complete your fast."
