Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Abbas (may Allah be pleased with them both) narrates from the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) that he (peace and blessings be upon him) said to a man who was taking the oath: "Swear by the One besides whom there is no god that you have nothing belonging to the claimant."

Sayyiduna al-Ash'ath bin Qays al-Kindi (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates from the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) that there was a dispute between a Hadrami man and a Kindi man. They both brought their dispute over land to the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him). The Hadrami said: "His father seized my land." He (peace and blessings be upon him) asked the Kindi: "What do you say?" He said: "It is my land, it is in my possession, and I inherited it from my father." He (peace and blessings be upon him) asked the Hadrami: "Do you have proof?" He said: "No, but O Messenger of Allah, let him swear by Allah, besides whom there is no god, that he does not know that it is land his father seized from me." The Kindi got ready to take the oath. He (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Whoever usurps the property of a Muslim brother by a false oath will be a leper when he meets Allah on the Day of Resurrection." So the Kindi returned it.
