Sayyiduna al-Bara' bin Azib (may Allah be pleased with him) says that the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) forbade seven things and commanded seven: "Visiting the sick, offering the funeral prayer, responding to one who sneezes, spreading the greeting of salam, helping the oppressed, fulfilling the oath of one who swears, and accepting an invitation"; and he forbade seven: "Wearing gold rings, drinking from silver vessels, wearing silk, wearing thick silk brocade, wearing fine silk brocade, red silk saddle cushions and silk cushions."

Sayyiduna Abd al-Rahman bin Safwan (may Allah be pleased with him) said: I brought my father to the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) for the pledge of emigration (hijrah). He (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Rather, I will take his pledge for jihad." So I went to Sayyiduna al-Abbas (may Allah be pleased with him), who was giving people water to drink, and I said: O Abu al-Fadl! I brought my father to him (peace and blessings be upon him) so that he would take his pledge for emigration, but he (peace and blessings be upon him) did not do so. So Sayyiduna al-Abbas (may Allah be pleased with him) set off with him in his shirt, without an upper garment. He came to the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) and said: O Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him)! You know what (ties) there are between me and Abd al-Rahman; take his father's pledge for emigration. He (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "There is no emigration." Then Sayyiduna al-Abbas (may Allah be pleased with him) adjured him by an oath to take the pledge for emigration. So the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) stretched out his hand and said: "I fulfil my uncle's oath, but there is no emigration."
Al-Bukhari said: "Abd al-Rahman bin Safwan, or Safwan bin Abd al-Rahman, from the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him)" — Yazid bin Abi Ziyad narrated it so from Mujahid; it is not sound.

Sayyiduna Abu Hurayrah (may Allah be pleased with him) said that the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Whoever adjures someone with an oath, thinking that he will fulfil his oath for him, but he does not do so, then the sin is only upon the one who did not fulfil it for him."

Sayyidah Aishah (may Allah be pleased with her) said that a woman gave her a tray full of dates as a gift. Sayyidah Aishah (may Allah be pleased with her) ate some of them, and some were left on the plate. The woman said: I adjure you by an oath to eat all of it. He (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Fulfil her oath, for the sin is upon the one who causes the oath to be broken."
The hadith of Abu Hurayrah (may Allah be pleased with him) has in its chain someone unknown from among the shaykhs of Baqiyyah. The hadith of Aishah is better, but it is mursal.
