Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Mughaffal (may Allah be pleased with him) saw one of his companions flicking pebbles and said: "Do not flick pebbles, for the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) disliked it, or he forbade it, because 'game cannot be hunted with it, nor can an enemy be harmed with it, but it can break a tooth and gouge out an eye.'" After that the man still flicked pebbles, so he said to him: "I tell you that he (peace and blessings be upon him) disliked it or forbade it, and yet you are still flicking pebbles? I will not speak to you for such-and-such a period."
