Sayyiduna Jarir bin Abdullah (may Allah be pleased with him) says that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said to me: "Will you not relieve me of Dhu al-Khalasah?" They used to call it the Yemeni Ka'bah. We set out with one hundred and fifty horsemen of the tribe of Ahmas, but I could not sit firmly on a horse. I told the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him), and he (peace and blessings be upon him) struck my chest with his hand, so that the marks of his (peace and blessings be upon him) fingers were on my chest, and he (peace and blessings be upon him) said: 'Allahumma thabbit-hu waj'alhu hadiyan mahdiyya' (O Allah, make him firm and make him one who guides and is rightly guided). He says that he went and broke it and burned it with fire, then sent Sayyiduna Husayn bin Rabi'ah (may Allah be pleased with him) to the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) to give him the good news, and he told the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him): "By the One who sent you with the truth, I did not come to you until we had left it like a mangy camel." So the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) prayed for blessings upon the horsemen and the foot soldiers of Ahmas five times.

Usamah bin Zayd (may Allah be pleased with him) says that the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) left Uthman bin Affan and Usamah bin Zayd (may Allah be pleased with them both) behind from Badr to nurse his daughter Ruqayyah (may Allah be pleased with her). Then Zayd bin Harithah (may Allah be pleased with him) came on the she-camel of the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him), al-Adba', with the good news of victory. Usamah (may Allah be pleased with him) says: I heard an alarmed clamour and went out, and it was Zayd bin Harithah (may Allah be pleased with him), who had come with the good news of victory. By Allah! I believed it only when I saw the captives. Then the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) assigned Sayyiduna Uthman bin Affan (may Allah be pleased with him) a share of Badr.
