Sayyiduna Anas (may Allah be pleased with him) said that a man from Banu Aslam came to the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) and said: I intend to go out for jihad, but I have no provisions. He (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "So-and-so prepared for jihad and then fell ill. Go to him and tell him: The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) sends you greetings of peace and orders you to give me the provisions with which I can prepare for jihad." The man went to him and told him (this message), and he said to his wife: Give him everything you prepared for me, and do not hold back anything, and Allah will bless you.

(a) Sayyiduna Abu Mas'ud al-Ansari (may Allah be pleased with him) said: A man came to the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) and said: "O Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him)! I am worn out; give me a mount." The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "I do not have one." A man said: "O Messenger of Allah! Shall I point out a man who will give him a mount?" He (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "The one who guides to good and the one who does it are equal in reward."

Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Amr bin al-As (may Allah be pleased with them both) said that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "The fighter has his reward, and the one who pays to send him out has his own reward and the reward of the fighter as well." Sayyiduna Wathilah (may Allah be pleased with him) said: The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) made a call for the Tabuk campaign. I went to my family, and when I came back, the first of his (peace and blessings be upon him) companions had already left. I went around Madinah announcing: Whoever gives a man a mount, the man's share will belong to the one who gives the mount. An elderly man of the Ansar said: His share will be ours; in return we will give him a mount, and his food will be with us. I accepted, and he said: Then go with the blessing of Allah. I set out with the best of companions, until we gained wealth without fighting, and I received some young she-camels. I drove them along until I came to him. He came out and sat on one of the saddlebags of his camels, then said: Drive them going away. Then he said: Drive them coming forward. And he said: Your she-camels are excellent. I said: This is the gain that I stipulated for you; this booty is yours. He said: O son of my brother! Take your she-camels; it was something other than your share that we wanted. The Shaykh (may Allah have mercy on him) said: The words "it was something other than your share that we wanted" mean that we did not want a share by way of hire; rather, our aim was to share in the reward and recompense.
